What is Hair Loss?

Hair is an important part of who we are. The average person has 5 million hair (1,00,000-1,50,000 0n the scalp).Hair grows everywhere on the body except the palms of the hand and soles of the feet  but many hairs are so fine they are virtually invisible.

Hair is composed of a protein called Keratin and Hair is produced by the structure which is underneath the skin is called Hair follicle. Hair follicles are produced when we are still a fetus and after we are born no new hair follicles are formed. As follicles produce new Hair cells, old cells are being pushed out at the surface of the skin at the rate of about six inches a year. The hair you can see is a dead keratin cells. Finding a few strays of Hair on your hair brush is not cause for alarm.

Hair loss is also known as the Alopecia or Baldness which refers to loss of a Hair from Head or part of the body but mainly the Head is involved. Adho Mukha Savasana

In simple English, this yoga asana can be called “Downward facing dog pose” because this asana looks similar to a how a dog looks when it bends forward.

While doing the asana, the practitioner needs to bend forward and hold this pose for approximately 1 to 3 minutes. This asana must be practised in the morning hours in the empty stomach. This asana improves the blood circulation in the body and makes sure that fresh blood flows to the head. As this asana stretches the neck and spine, it helps in relieving stress.

How To Do Downward Facing Dog Pose (Adho Mukh Svanasana)

  • Stand on four limbs, such that your body forms a table-like structure.
  • Exhale and gently lift your hips and straighten your elbows and knees. You need to ensure your body forms an inverted ‘V’.
  • Your hands should be in line with your shoulders, and your feet in line with your hips. Make sure that your toes point outwards.
  • Now, press your hands into the ground and lengthen your neck. Your ears should touch your inner arms, and you should turn your gaze to your navel.
  • Hold for a few seconds, and then, bend your knees and return to the table position.
