CPL 2018 : Carlos Brathwaite all-round show dominate the defending champs!

Carlos Brathwaite all-round performance helped St Kitts and Nevis Patriots seal the match against the defending champs, Trinbago Knight Riders in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2018. Carlos helped the Kitts reach a total past 200, with a 41 of just 15 balls, providing them the most ideal finish to their innings. Later, he shined with the ball as well. His figures of 2-19 from his quota of overs made sure Kitts get their maiden victory of the season.

Starting with the wicket of Lewis at a duck, the hosts were on the top until Devon Thomas came into picture. He scored a well composed half century adding to the fireworks of Brathwaite in the end, taking them to a very solid total of 203. Chris Gayle and Ben Cutting played their hand, taking Dwayne Bravo to the cleaners.

It was a 180 affair for Kitts, until Carlos unleashed his power hitting. He was accompanied by Ben Cutting for the final five overs, where they both took the bowlers to cleaners at the death. Having a very solid bowling unit, Trinbago were never upto the mark at the death. Their prime death specialist, skipper Dwayne Bravo leaked way too many runs adding to the deficit of the TKR.

Carlos was phenomenal also with the ball. He bowled at an economy of 4.75 and managed two scalps, including the all important wicket of Colin Munro. He was swift on the field as well. Though Devon Thomas was given Man of the match, it was Carlos who gave some very important contribution with both bat and ball on the field.

While chasing a mammoth total, Trinbago would have hoped for a fiery start. But, St Kitts opening bowlers were on target, picked up three early scalps under 35 runs by the fifth over. Then came Carlos Brathwaite, who removed the all important wicket of Colin Munro, which was the definite game changer and made St Kitts as the direct favorite from that point of game.

Similar was the story of the visitors as well. They were down to 3-2 way too early, until Chris Gayle and Devon Thomas filled that void. Things were going well for the hosts, where they were looking to restrict Kitts to somewhere around 170. Then came the flood of Carlos Brathwaite, in which whole set of death bowlers were drowned.

Both the teams are equally poised on the points table with a win each. TKR got a better run rate, Kitts got a game more than hosts to play for.

TKR(P-W-L) : 3-1-2.

SKNP(P-W-L) : 2-1-1.
