Manchester united transfer targets

With little less than a month left for the transfer window to close, Manchester United are trying to  pull of at least one signing before the transfer window closes. Even tough United managed to come second last season, questions were being raised on the quality of play under Mourinho, and Mourinho is looking to bolster his squad, hoping for some additions to his squad in the weeks to come. Here are the targets Mourinho is looking to add to his squad.

1- Harry Maguire-

During this year’s FIFA World Cup, the young centre back from Leicester did not fail to impress for England, where he was given the license to attack as well by the England manager Gareth Southgate and did not fail to meet his expectations. I think that Harry Maguire will fit perfectly into Mourinho’s plans, because the centre back has age by his side, as well as he can attack. He is also a stable defender which United need, especially after their defensive wows in the last season. Leicester city have slapped a price tag of 80 million pound on the English defender, and we have to wait to see if United will be ready to pay a world transfer record for a defender to secure his services.

Odds- 5/6

2- Ivan Perisic

Ivan Perisic is the left winger from Croatia, who currently plays for the club Interntzionale . Ivan Perisic managed to impress in the FIFA world cup, playing a huge hand in leading Croatia into the finals of the world cup. But this is not the only reason why Mourinho wanted to sign him. Mourinho was also trying to sign the Croat last transfer window, but failed to do so because the fee Internazionale was asking was too high. Most of this transfer window, Mourinho has kept an eye on the ambidextrous footballer, but reports suggest that Mourinho is no longer interested in his services, eventough Perisic said that he would be interested in playing in the Premier League. I think Perisic would have been the best signing for United because of his ambitextrous nature, letting him play on both sides of the wings. He is also and agile and quick thinker on the ball, which is what Mourinho was looking

3- Willian

This transfer season, Mourinho had his eyes fixed on the Chelsea winger, who had also played under him with Chelsea in the 2013-15 season and won the title under him in 2104. There were on and off rumours whether the Brazilian winger will join the red devils, in the most recent update is, Willian has confirmed publicly that he is happy in London even tough they offered Martial in an exchange offer, and will not be looking  to join Mourinho this season, but he has also stated that in the future it maybe “possible” Willian would have fit in the United squad because he would have given the experience that United were lacking on the right wing. He has good pace, can take long shots and is also a good crosser of the ball. He is an all in one winger which Mourinho would have liked to add in his squad, but missed out.

4- Toby Alderweireld

With two days left in the transfer, Toby Alderweireld  is the most likely signing that United will make amongst all the other names that I have mentioned earlier. The Belgian centre back is likely to join United before the transfer window closes, reports saying that a deal has been agreed for the Belgian and should be closed by tomorrow. Tottenham Hotspurs are willing to sell the Belgian, because Alderweireld’s contract will be getting over soon, and if they let his contract run out, they will get only 25 million for the defender. The agreed fee is said to be in the range of 45-50 million pounds. Alderweireld will fit the United team due to his agility, stability and is heading. He has a good decision making ability in pressure situations, and is also in the box at the right time.
