Then this book “The Art of War” highlighting the principles that encourage a perceptive approach to conflict, enabling you to prevent conflicts before they arise and also to quickly resolve conflicts when they do arise is a must read book.
The author Sun-Tzu was a Chinese military general, philosopher and strategist who lived during Thou Dynasty in China. Today this book is increasingly popular among Political leaders, Military strategists and Business management leaders. It has 13 chapters each of which gives immense tactics not only on warfare but which could be applied in day to day life.
The author starts his 1st chapter “LAYING PLAN” giving the importance of planning before execution of any work in life or warfare. This book contains some great lines said by SUN-TZU each giving a life lesson. Few of them are as follows :
“Supreme excellence is breaking enemy’s resistance without fight” – This best depicts the importance and the art of achieving your goal without breaking down another individual’s goals.
“Clever fighter is the one who not only wins but excels in wining with ease” – These lines best explains on the tactical thinking and cleverness an individual should develop and imbibe in himself / herself.
“Clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy’s will to be imposed on him.” – These line are a good example of how a leader should be firm, strong and dominating over his competitors not allowing them override his goals.
“All men can see tactics whereby I conquer but what none can see is the STRATEGY of which victory is evolved” – These lines best say about how important is strategy making to achieve a certain goal in life.
“Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move fall like a thunderbolt”- This is one my favorite lines in this book. The message is soo strong and it tells about the keen and silent planning which one should do before taking a step forward, without letting the world know it. But once you a take a big step that step should be a remarkable one.
“ Begin by seizing something which your opponent holds dear, then he will be amenable to your will” – This tells us to work on our strengths likewise knowing your competitors weakness is also important. Because this weakness would someday turn into your trump card and could be a game changer.
Hard lessons are learnt from past mistakes and such life lessons have been neatly put forward in this book in a very crisp manner. Thus when a few lines from this book could give so much insights on how to go about in military strategy which is can also be linked to improving our leadership and entrepreneur skills. These skills are the most sought for and have been in demand in the modern day life. Hence this book is a must read for self improvement purpose which would hardly take a day of time from you.
